8/7/12 Daily Tip: Fear Of Feelings

In order to allow yourself full reign of life, your power, to work from your true self, you must recognize the fears that keep you from living in your past. Do you spend your present fearing your past? Do you avoid feelings with food? Complusive eaters and emotional eaters tend to numb out their feelings, stuff their feelings, or avoid feeling and thinking about their feelings with food. The truth about feelings is that they can be painful and hard to work through, however, it is not the feelings that causes the suffering. It is the story you have attached to the feelings that hurt you. Allow yourself to let go of the past by understanding the difference between historical feelings and present feelings. Allow each experience to have its own space without associating it or connecting it to an archaic experience. Just for today, choose to be present in your body, mind, and spirit. Feed your body when it is hungry not when it is lonely, anxious, or bored. Stay present and try to distinguish between what has passed and what is present. Don’t fear your feelings, they can not hurt you.
